Attacks on U.S. -- Implications, Causes, Repercussions
All true Muslims condemn attacks on innocent civilians. This kind of indiscriminate attack is completely forbidden in Islam. Any statements to the contrary are only anti-Islamic propaganda. It is true that there are certain people who call themselves Muslims who have no understanding of the Islamic law, but to link these people with the religion of Islam or the Islamic movement is unjustifiable. However, some elements of the Western media are promoting this kind of hatred. At the same time, whenever a Jew or Christian commits some heinous act based on a misinterpretation of their religion, all Christians or Jews are not condemned by the Western media, or even by the Islamic media.
There has been a media blackout of some of the recent events connected to the attack. For example, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) correspondent in New York has reported that the site in Pennsylvania where the fourth plane crashed is closed to the media. There is speculation that U.S. Air Force jets shot the plane down to prevent it from reaching its target and that the media is helping to cover this up out of fear of public reaction.
U.S. officials and the media have begun to accuse Osama Bin Laden of involvement. He is currently based in Afghanistan and protected by the Taleban. The irony of this is the fact that the U.S. actually assisted Bin Laden's faction during their war against the Soviets and helped the Taleban take power. Whether Ben Laden will be determined to have been involved, it will nevertheless be hard to accept that he could do this without accomplices within the USA as it will be difficult to accept that he has the resources to carry out an operation of this scale. It is said that Bin Laden is a billionaire and that he funds operations with his fortune. It is never explained where he keeps his money, though. Is it in a safe in Kandahar? Is it in a bank in New York or London? How is it possible that the money cannot be traced?
All of this is reminiscent of the media coverage immediately after the Oklahoma City bombing. At that time, too, the U.S. media was promoting anti-Islamic hatred. Muslims were attacked, and one was even killed in Oklahoma. Two days later, when it was discovered that the main suspect was Timothy McVeigh, a white Christian white U.S. citizen, the media stopped its anti-Muslim rhetoric. They offered no apologies, although their actions could be regarded as hate crimes.
The same kind of incitement to hatred is again being promoted by the Western media. It has even inspired attacks against mosques and Muslims in the U.S. This is not acceptable.
These attacks were so precise and coordinated that it is hard to believe that a small group or even several groups could carry them out. An incredible amount of planning and training would be required to carry out such an attack. Add to that the level of secrecy required to avoid detection and the skill and sheer luck required to successfully carry out the operation, and the odds of this being the act of a small group or several such groups become astronomical. The U.S. CIA, NSA and other intelligence organizations have such a complex and far-reaching surveillance network that it is unbelievable that such an act could have been planned and carried out without some advance knowledge leaking out. Therefore, it is possible that some internal elements were involved in the act in order to promote their own agenda. After all, who would benefit from such an action?
The international Islamic movement definitely would not benefit. Islamic countries throughout the world are currently conducting their affairs through democratic means. President Khatami of Iran and many other Islamic leaders are advocating Islamic democracy. The Islamists do not want to be regarded as undemocratic by the rest of the world. Terrorist acts only serve to isolate and demonize Islamists and all Muslims and are therefore abhorred and condemned.
The Zionists and certain anti-Islamic elements in the West, however, would benefit from any action that would serve to discredit and demonize the Islamic movement. They are still angry about the stinging defeat they received at the Durban Conference against racism. Representatives of the U.S. and the Zionist regime walked out of the conference after delegates began discussing the possibility of equating Zionism with racism in the final resolution. The U.S. and the Zionists realized that they could no longer intimidate the rest of the world and that the Palestinian cause was beginning to get serious international recognition. Many analysts believe that the Durban Conference was a turning point for the Palestinian cause. Terrorist actions at this critical point in time would only serve to wipe out all the recent gains.
It seems that all of this anti-Islamic rhetoric is meant to justify repression of Muslims and the entire Islamic movement. Perhaps Americans and U.S. officials should look inside instead of outside their country for the roots and causes of this catastrophe.
